A simple to make soda bread.

 Butter, for greasing
225 g Plain flour plus extra for dusting
225 g Self rising flour ( alternatively use self rising wholemeal for extra fibre)
 1 tsp Bicarbonate of soda
2 tbsp Black treacle ( or use maple syrup or honey or golden syrup)
50 g Porridge oats, plus 1 tbsp for sprinkling
475 ml Almond milk ( or other alternative vegan milk)
 1 tsp Sea salt
1

1. Preheat the oven to 200C/180C fan/Gas 6 and grease a baking tray with butter. (See note below)

2

2. Mix all the bread ingredients together in a large bowl until a soft sticky dough is formed. Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and form into a round. Sprinkle the additional 1 tbsp of oats on top and transfer to the baking tray.

3

3 Bake for around 35 - 40 mins, or until golden brown and the bread sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom. Place on a wire rack to cool.

4

Note. As the dough can be very sticky and hard to handle, if you have a silicon bread mould, or a lekue bread maker the dough can be poured directly into that.
