Sprinkle on salads or baked potatoes, anything really that needs a smokey salty flavour!

  • Prep: 5 mins
  • Cook: 15 mins

1/2 cup TVP

2 tbsp low sodium tamari sauce (or soy sauce)

1 tbsp water

1 tsp maple syrup

2 tsp liquid smoke

1/2 tsp smoked paprika

1/2 tsp garlic powder

1/2 tsp salt

1Place all ingredients, EXCEPT FOR TVP & SALT, in a small sauce pan and bring to a boil

2Once the mixture starts to boil, remove from heat and add TVP

3Stir until all the liquid has been absorbed

4Pre-heat oven to 100 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper

5Spread bacon bits out evenly on baking sheet and place in oven

6Cook for 10 minutes then shake so the bacon bits will cook evenly

7Repeat until the bacon bits are crispy, but be careful not to burn

8Once cooked sprinkle over the salt and mix together
